I've met some truly amazing people when I was in New York and Chris is most definitely one of them. When we weren't working at Club Monaco, Chris and I would find ways to amuse ourselves in the city - for free ofcourse! Our favorite spots include:

- The High Line at sunset
- MoMA (friday nights are free)
- The Brooklyn Bridge past midnight (its crawling with tourists during the day)

Alas, the budget of a recent graduate looking for a job cannot finance anything too extravagant. So if you work in the fashion design industry - pleaseeee give Chris a job so that we can finance more exciting escapades in the future!

The High Line is officially my favorite place in the city. Its so whimsical and delicate compared to the busy city below. And probably one of the best places to watch the sunset over the river.

Sorry my posts have been so few and far in between. Blogging takes a backseat now that I work/intern 7 days a week. I did score a few pieces at Topshop, and I'm in the market for a pair of awesome sandals, so hopefully I'll have more exciting things to show you next time. Editorial hunting has also taken a slump due to crazy work schedules. But now I'm off to see Bruno!

In between all my interning and working I finally got time to enjoy and explore some of Manhattan. I desperately wanted to go to the high line - as everyone was talking about it, but sadly I found it to be closed! So my friend and I just ended up roaming around the meatpacking which was equally pleasant.

I finally got a chance to wear this Matthew Williamson after what felt like 4 months of non-stop rain. I love how light and girly it is. When I first got it - I wasn't sure if I liked the length and I thought it was a bit too long, but now I feel like the length gives the dress a sort of feminine charm. And I absolutely LOVEE my new CC Skye screw bracelet, I know the color is pretty intense, but its completely perfect for hot sunny days (which I don't think I'm going to see a lot of - but one can always hope!).

I hope you all have exciting plans for the 4th of July weekend - A few of my friends are in town and we're going to try to see Shakespeare in the Park! And of course, fireworks! Have a great weekend everyone!

Ruffles & Recess.

Hey guys, sorry its been so unbearably long since my last post. I have been crazy busy with interning and working and attempting to have somewhat of a social life without becoming an insomniac.

New York has been amazing, although I wish I had more time to explore its many wonders. I've been meaning to check out the High Line - the new "futuristic" park in the meatpacking. I also have yet to find time to roam around MoMA - my favorite museum in the city. But alas - I need to stick to things that won't break the bank. Any suggestions for cheap eats? Especially brunch? around the west village?

I did discover the most amazing little cafe on tenth and university. It's called Recess and I swear its frozen yogurt is ten times better than Pinkberry. But this time I decided to indulge in their small treats. =D

My roommate snapped some pics of me outside the church across the street. Its an incredibly beautiful church but it seems completely out of place in the middle of Manhattan. But that's the beauty of Manhattan, one minute you're in a gothic church, the next you're standing next to a futuristic building by Gehry. I never want to leave New York.

More about the outfit - I got these amazing pink flats from Asos a while ago, and I haven't busted them out till now, I'm not sure if they look amazing with the outfit - but I had to take them out. And this is hands down my favorite summer shirt, its so light and airy but girly and feminine at the same time. The back is super cool - its a shame we didn't capture it in pictures.

On a random tangent, Robert Pattinson was filming a movie on my street yesterday - the crowd of screaming girls was ridiculous. I went as moral support for my roomie, because I don't like him or find him attractive at all, but even she was shocked at the little girls who skipped out on private school to see him walk down a street. I think sometimes we forget that they're just normal people...

I got to go to the "Model as Muse" exhibit at the MET over the weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed it - although the massive crowds of people in the exhibit was a bit off-putting. It was probably one of my favorite exhibitions that I've seen at the MET - and I'm an art history geek - so that's saying something. It really tried to understand the role of the model through time - and the interplay of fashion and photography was very well thought out. I would highly recommend this exhibit to anyone who loves fashion and or photography. I went with my roommate (an up-and-coming photographer) and she absolutely loved it.

I also almost bought a pastel green tutu today - but I resisted due to lack of sufficient funds. Instead I bring you this fairy-tale-esque editorial from numero 104 to satisfy my cravings for flouncy princess dresses.

Dreamin of Lanvin

Sorry my posts have been slow - I am SO SOOO busy, but I'm trying to update as much as I can!

I fell in love with this bright orange number from H&M. Actually the dress was originally two sizes too big, but with some savvy sewing skills and strategic pinning I got it to fit! It reminds me of the Lanvin spring summer 08 collection - one of my favorite collections of all time! If only this dress had ruffles too... but I guess that's pushing my luck.

I visited my favorite dessert place uptown, went to the Met, had the best lychee ice cream ever, and I enjoyed a lovely fruit salad on the steps of Columbia. Oh and I freely indulged in pinkberry and Crumbs cupcakes:




Maybe I'll use my free gym pass next weekend?

So I totally embarrassed my friends by wearing these super shiny leggings in broad daylight - to make things even more embarrassing, we were heading to the Guggenheim.



But they were pretty good sports and only made occasional jokes.

Now that I'm back home - I realize just how much Michigan sucks - you know with the recession and all. *sighs* Hopefully I'll spend the summer interning in the city.

Tea in the Lazy Afternoon

Alice's Teacup is the most amazing place ... EVERR. If you guys happen to be in the city, it's def. worth a stop - I highly recommend the scones - they are like a piece of heaven.

It was a pretty laid-back day - hence the lack of exciting clothing. But we did get extremely delicious crepes. Crepes are one of my many weaknesses - I always get them if they're on the menu. Yes I'm well aware that this is not healthy - but one does not go to brunch to expect a healthy meal. Look at how yummy they are!!



Speaking of weaknesses - umm... will anyone be willing to buy these for me? I'm completely smitten. I think you will be too:

*sighs* So many pretty shoes, so little money.

Soho Prep

Today I convinced my friend Zara to spend a relaxing afternoon in Soho before going back to Columbia for class. I've decided that one day I will own apartment in Soho - I love the atmosphere there. Although now it's becoming filled with tourists (like myself). But I know that someday I too will be an incredibly chic New Yorker.



Of course we shopped - this was taken at Urban, I'm in love with the "J". I must say this is my 3rd or 4th trip to Soho in the last 5 days. Last time Steven and I spent 2 hours browsing through Bloomingdales - its an amazing store.



Zara took Steven and me to a very yummy Thai place the other day - I know how much you guys love to be bombarded with food porn - so here's to temptation



It was my "curry puff" its a cross between puff pastry and a samosa - but it was amazingly good.

Not to worry dear readers, there will be more outfits to come - i shall get those up as soon as I get back home!

Wandering in the city

You didn't think I forgot about you did you? When one is in New York, its difficult not to be completely immersed in city life. But here are the promised updates - sadly none of them include my "outfit" pictures as I took those on my SLR and forgot to bring the USB drive to connect them to the computer - so you'll have to wait till I get home for those!

But I will give you a little preview...




Yes. That's right. Balmain inspired shoes at Zara. I walked in and they were the first thing I saw, and there were only two pairs left. AND one of them was my size!! ohhh I LOVEEEE them!!!



So the other day I met up with my beyond fabulous friend Steven who goes to Tisch @ NYU - we went to this amazing dessert place near Columbia (where my other friend goes, so I'm staying there). The desserts were like a piece of heaven - I mean... take a look:
